Charles River Associates Strengthens Antitrust Team with Experienced DOJ Leader

Charles River Associates (CRA) has announced the appointment of Nate Goldstein as a vice president in its Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice. According to a statement from CRA, Goldstein brings experience in managing antitrust investigations and leading teams across high-profile cases.

    In a company announcement, Paul Maleh, President and Chief Executive Officer of CRA, highlighted Goldstein’s leadership record, noting his prior work with the U.S. Department of Justice. “We are pleased to welcome Nate to CRA’s Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice,” Maleh said. “He is a skilled leader who has managed teams of experts in dozens of complex and high-profile antitrust investigations during his notable career working for the Justice Department.”

    According to a statement from Margaret Sanderson, CRA Vice President and Global Practice Leader of the Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice, Goldstein’s expertise and leadership abilities make him a valuable addition to the firm. “Having led more than 150 federal investigations, Nate has a rare combination of subject matter expertise, executive talent, and practical experience that is prized by CRA and our clients,” Sanderson said. “We look forward to working with him to help our clients navigate the substantive and procedural elements of what are invariably high-stakes matters, from investigation to litigation.”

    Per a statement, Goldstein’s 23-year tenure at the Department of Justice included serving as Chief of the Economic Litigation Section within the Antitrust Division. In that role, he oversaw teams of economists, data scientists, and financial analysts in cases involving mergers, monopolization, trade restraints, and criminal conspiracy investigations.

    Goldstein earned his AB in Economics from Duke University and went on to complete his MA and PhD in Economics at Stanford University.

    According to CRA, its Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice provides economic analysis and testimony in competition cases worldwide. The firm’s economists include former government officials and members of top academic and legal institutions.
