Chile: FNE approves acquisition of Panalpina

The National Economic Prosecutor’s Office of Chile (FNE) approved, in a “pure and simple” way, the acquisition by DSV A/S of Panalpina Welttransport Holding AG – a request that was notified on May 10, 2019. The agency considered that the operation does not carry risks that can substantially reduce competition in the markets involved.

    During the process it was determined that the merger thresholds established in the Guide for the Analysis of Concentration Operations, released on October 2012 by the Prosecutor’s Office (“Guide”), are not exceeded for any of the segments analyzed and, therefore, additional analysis of the operation would not be necessary.

    In the process it was noted that, in Chile, the firms’ activities only overlap in international freight forwarding services, both maritime and air, since Panalpina does not provide national freight forwarding services.
