China: InterDigital looks to cut NDRC probe short

Patent licensing firm InterDigital has reportedly submitted concessions to China’s National Development and Reform Commission in efforts to have the regulator drop its investigation into the US company.

    The NDRC reportedly confirmed the concessions were submitted as InterDigital vowed to cooperate with authorities.

    The NDRC has reportedly launched an investigation into the licensing company following allegations it charged Chinese firms, including Huawei and ZTE, higher licensing firms than tech rivals Apple and Samsung.

    The company was ordered to pay $3.28 million last October by a court in China’s Guangdong province.

    InterDigital made waves in the media weeks ago when it reportedly refused to meet with officials in China for fear its employees would be detained.
