China: NDRC denies reports of Qualcomm decision

 |  December 7, 2014

China’s National Development and Reform Commission denied reports that emerged last week regarding the regulator’s antitrust investigation into US chip maker Qualcomm.

Unnamed sources had told reporters that the watchdog has made a decision on the case and reported to the State Council.

But according to the NDRC, it has not yet made a decision and the case remains ongoing. The China Central Television relayed the NDRC’s denial, adding that there is no procedure of the NDRC reporting to the State Council on its antitrust investigations.

China’s investigation into Qualcomm was launched in 2013; soon after, authorities announced that the company held a dominant position in the nation and potentially abused that market power.
