Colombia: Authority prepares Ruling on concrete and sugar cartels.

Colombia’s competition watchdog, SIC, has announced that it is preparing a final ruling, to be released in august, regarding possible cartels operating in the concrete and sugar industries.

The SIC started probes on the country’s five largest cement makers back in August 2013. It presented similar charges against 15 sugar companies later that year.

SIC’s Superintendent, Pablo Felipe Robledo, also announced that, once these cases are resolved, the agency will continue with other possible cartel cases in the cattle, diaper, bathroom tissue, notebook and private security markets, among other cases of interest.
