Compass Lexecon Expands Leadership with New Executive Appointments in Washington, D.C.

    According to a statement, both executives bring extensive experience in economics, finance, and litigation support to the firm. Compass Lexecon Chairman and President Daniel R. Fischel said the new appointments strengthen the firm’s expert roster and reinforce its reputation for excellence in analysis and litigation support.

    Per the statement, Dr. Verlinda brings over two decades of experience addressing competition and consumer protection matters. His new role will involve advising clients and serving as an expert witness in merger reviews, monopolization cases, and cartel investigations across a wide range of industries. Before joining Compass Lexecon, he spent more than ten years at an economic consulting firm in Washington, D.C., and previously worked for eight years in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, where he focused on mergers and monopolization cases in sectors such as airlines, energy, payments, and consumer goods.

    Mr. Kirmani, who also joins the firm’s Washington office, has more than ten years of experience managing large teams performing economic and financial analyses. According to a statement, he has worked with clients throughout all stages of litigation, including trial and regulatory proceedings, across sectors like oil and gas, utilities, finance, healthcare, and retail. At Compass Lexecon, he will concentrate on finance and securities matters, damages assessment, and merger and acquisition disputes. Prior to this role, Kirmani served as a Principal at another consulting firm and previously worked in private equity, focusing on evaluating transactions and developing strategic initiatives for portfolio companies.

    The announcement also highlighted Compass Lexecon’s continued investment in expanding its team of antitrust and finance experts. Per the firm’s statement, 2025 has seen the addition of 19 academic experts, including recent appointments of professionals such as Faten Sabry, Ron Laschever, Alexander White, Piyal Hyder, Erin Smith, and William Hrycay.
