The Competition Commission of India announced that companies coming forward with information about cartels and other anticompetitive agreements would be shown leniency. Although India’s Competition Act includes a “leniency programme” for whistleblowers, Commission Chair Ashok Chawla claims “nobody has used it so far.” Those companies that disclose their involvement in anticompetitive arrangements and comply with investigations are promised anonymity as well.
