Competition Law in Australia

The Australian competition landscape has been dominated this year by two proposed major policy changes by the Labor government. First, the government aspires to a stronger and better merger law with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) rather than the courts having the power to make legally binding decisions about mergers. This is accompanied by the introduction of overdue compulsory pre-merger notification of large mergers and also by strengthening of the provisions o
