Competition Policy Act proposes institutionalizing an antitrust watchdog

Senator Teofisto Guingona III has filed Senate Bill No. 3109, the Competition Policy Act of 2011. The bill will create a national antitrust body, the Philippine Fair Competition Commission, with a task force of members from the Office of the President, Civil Service Commission, Tariff Commission, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Justice, and the Department of Budget and Management. With his bill, Senator Guingona seeks to promote fair trade, competition, and government transparency through clear rules.
