Deal to create new U.K. tomato ingredient company, Princes Industrie Alimentari, approved by EC
The European Commission has cleared Princes’ proposed acquisition of sole control over parts of AR Industrie Alimentari. Princes is a U.K.-based food and drink production, marketing, and distribution company. AR Industrie Alimentari is an Italian food company. Under the proposed deal, Princes is to acquire assets, agreements, equipment, inventory and liabilities to create Princes Industrie Alimentari. The new company will be involved in pre-packaged tomato-based cooking ingredients.
Upon investigation of the U.K. market for tomato-based ingredients and the vertical relationships created by the transaction, the Commission found that competition would not be significantly altered by the merger.
