Disa-Shell aviation fuel joint venture referred from EC to Spain

The European Commission has referred Disa’s proposed acquisition of a controlling stake in Shell Aviation España to the Comisión Nacional de la Competencia (CNC), the Spanish competition authority. The CNC had requested the referral on May 22, 2012, citing the transaction’s potential effects in the markets for logistic services and storage of petroleum products, into-plan services and aviation fuel supply in the Canary Islands. A preliminary assessment by the Commission found that the deal would affect only Spanish markets.
