E.U.: Antitrust fees needed to meet EU budget requirements

In an effort to raise an additional $11.7 billion to meet European Union budget needs, the European Commission will look to meet needs through antitrust fees. Antitrust fines are expected to cover about one-third of the necessary funds; nearly $6 billion will come from member states, requiring new budget cuts in the midst of a financial crisis. The money will be used by the EU to fund poorer regions as well as international students.
