EU: Commission axes probe into US software firm

    Authorities said Tuesday that a probe into the company has been scrapped following a formal investigation, though the watchdog declined to specify the exact results of that investigation.

    The probe was first launched in March of 2012 following a complaint against MathWorks that accused the company of refusing to offer crucial data to rivals to ensure their devices are compatible with MathWorks products, repots say.

    While the Commission did not elaborate on its reasoning for ending the probe, unnamed sources said the original complainant retracted its accusations.
