 |  April 5, 2013

The European Commission has announced through a press release that it has formally approved of the merger between Penguin in Random House in a deal that creates a mega-book publisher. Combined, the new company will be named Penguin Random House; the Commission found that the new business will still face stealthy competition and therefore found no cause for concern. Penguin Random House combines the publishing businesses of Bertelsmann, based in Germany, and Person, based in the UK. The new company will house divisions throughout the globe including the US the UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, and other countries.
