France: Altice eyes 2015 deals after SFR

French telco group Altice is already looking ahead to possible acquisitions in 2015 as the company focuses on its most recent acquisition of SFR, according to reports.

Altice CEO Dexter Goei said last week that the company could make a move for Bouygues Telecom, noting that the company has sufficient funds to make an acquisition as early as the first quarter in 2015.

But reports add that Iliad could be another natural contender for a buyout target, as it would likely face less regulatory scrutiny. Iliad, however, has signaled no interest for mergers within France.

Altice secured clearance to acquire SFR from its previous owner Vivendi last April; Altice-owned Numericable will now merge with SFR after a bidding war for the assets. Altice says the deal is set to close sometime this week.
