France/US: Publicis boosts portfolio ahead of Omnicom merger

 |  January 13, 2014

As France-based Publicis and US-based Omnicom receive antitrust clearance from around the globe to merge and create the world’s largest advertising firm, reports say Publicis is boosting its portfolio with the acquisition of Qorvis Communications, a move made to strengthen the company’s stance in Washington, D.C.

Reports say Qorvis clients include Cisco Systems and the Mayo Clinic; the communications group also has strong political campaign management experience, according to reports.

The buyout news comes days after Publicis and Omnicom received regulatory clearance to merge by the European Commission; the US, South Africa, South Korea and other regulators have similarly cleared the transaction plans.
