Gambia: Abuse of dominance becomes top target for watchdog

Gambia’s Competition and Consumers’ Protection Commission is refocusing its efforts against dominance abuse in the nation, according to Gambia’s Trade, Integration and Employment minister.

    In a statement, Minister Abdou Colley emphasized the importance of independent regulators like the GCCPC to crack down on cartels and other anticompetitive players across industries in Gambia.

    But the competition watchdog will need backup to adequately promote competition in the industry, government officials said, including consumer associations and professional institutions.
