According to Reuters, the deal is set to close on August 1, although financial terms have not been disclosed.

Alteia specializes in artificial intelligence-based software that helps utility companies inspect and analyze the condition of power grid infrastructure. GE Vernova already integrates Alteia’s technology through its GridOS Visual Intelligence platform, which enables utilities to evaluate damage and conduct inspections along vast stretches of power lines.

Per Reuters, the acquisition aligns with GE Vernova’s push to expand its electrification software offerings—a segment that includes the GridOS suite. The company believes this business line could grow rapidly in the coming years. RBC Capital Markets analyst Christopher Dendrinos noted that while the segment has seen moderate growth in recent years—expanding at mid-single-digit percentages—it holds strong potential for acceleration.

A key factor fueling GE Vernova’s momentum is the rising energy consumption driven by data centers supporting artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency applications. As global electricity demand is poised to reach record highs this year, GE Vernova’s grid technologies are in increasingly high demand, per Reuters.
