Germany: EU planning to drop Deutsche Bahn probe

Sources say the European Commission is set to drop its investigation into German railway conglomerate Deutsche Bahn after the company offered settlements the Commission deemed acceptable.

    The Commission has been probing the company for 18 months following complaints of anticompetitive behavior by the railway regarding price discounts received by DB Energie, the only supplier of energy to German railway networks.

    Deutsche Bahn has offered to set electricity prices meant to reduce the barrier to entry into the electricity market for railways.
