Germany: Jurisdiction battle with EU for Telefonica deal rages on

German authorities filed a renewed request with the European Commission to obtain jurisdiction over wireless giant Telefonica Deutschland’s proposed acquisition of KPN Mobile unit E-Plus, say reports.

    Three weeks prior, the Commission announced plans for an in-depth investigation into the buyout, proposed for nearly $12 billion. The announcement sparked concerns with Germany’s regulator the Bundeskartellamt, which told the Commission that the EU must request jurisdiction over the merger review. The notice is in-line with EU law.

    The European Commission confirmed that Germany has again requested to review the deal itself.
