Germany: New fuel price reporting protocol to empower consumers

In an effort to increase transparency within the fuel market for consumers, Germany’s antitrust regulator has announced the initiation of a new protocol that would require fuel companies to report prices at gas stations. According to reports, the change, which is in the process of implementation, will require gas station operators to report prices to the Market Transparency Unit. The move comes as there is controversy within Europe, especially in the UK, surrounding allegations of price-fixing at fuel pumps.
