Germany: No challenge bids from Liberty for Kabel Deutschland

Germany’s largest cable conglomerate is not likely to see a new takeover bid by Liberty Global, say reports, as the company plans to be bought out by Vodafone Group Plc. Liberty made an initial offer for the German company in June, but, according to unnamed sources, Liberty views Vodafone’s bid as too pricey to top. Vodafone upped its offer late last month to more than $10 billion to beat out Liberty. According to Bloomberg, the deal, if approved by regulators, would be this year’s second-largest telecom buyout within Europe.
