
Google has settled the penalty amount of $160M imposed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for anti-competitive practices in the Android ecosystem.
Google paid a $160M penalty imposed by the Competition Commission of India for anti-competitive practices in the Android ecosystem, in response to the government’s aim to introduce a new Digital India Act.
In March, the NCLAT upheld the CCI’s penalty of $160M on Google in the Android mobile devices case, with some modifications. The appellate tribunal directed Google to implement the direction and deposit the amount within 30 days.

In October of last year, the CCI imposed a fine on Google for engaging in anti-competitive behavior concerning Android mobile devices. The regulator also instructed the internet company to stop engaging in unfair business practices.
According to sources cited by news agency IANS, the penalty amount has been deposited in the Consolidated Fund of India within the 30-day deadline set by the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) in its order.
