India: CCI asks cos to provide all necessary information when seeking M&A approval

The Competition Commission of India has announced a demand to the nation’s companies telling them to provide sufficient information regarding their position in the market as well as potential harm to competition when requesting approval for all merger and acquisition activity. A spokesperson for the CCI said that the information should be provided by all companies, most likely to ensure swift decision-making by the CCI as the authority looks to increase M&A activity for the country. The statements were made by member Geeta Gouri at a conference entitled Mergers Acquisitions – Tax Implications.
