Ireland/EU: Ireland airport cries foul following government aid to rival

An agreement has reportedly been reached between the EU directorate general for competition and Ireland West Airport Kock’s company board, as the airport approached the authority with concerns regarding the government bailout of its rival Shannon Airport. The bailout was worth about $385 million. The coming weeks will bring new developments as a result of that agreement, though the details of such a term have not been revealed. Reports said, however, that while aid can continue to flow into Shannon, a proportionate form of aid must also be given to Ireland West Airport Knock to ease competition concerns.
