Japan: FTC issues comes down hard on concrete firm

The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) issued a cease and desist order to Abashiri Concrete Products Association (ACPA) concerning its practice of designating users for each seller and limiting discounts to under 10 percent. ACPA is accused of suppressing competition in the market of secondary concrete products which consist of items molded from concrete and hardened.

    The JFTC has issued a charge of over $50 million to ACPA and its members for violating anti-competition regulations, though ACPA has sixty days to request a hearing process regarding the order and charges.
