Japan/Philippines: Nations collaborate on competition law training

More than 80 Philippine government officials are set to receive education and training on the nation’s competition law by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, known as Jica, the agency said.

    Jica released a statement outlining the second phase of its project with the Philippine’s Department of Justice in a plan that aims to guide domestic companies through various competition policy reforms. Phase two reportedly involves such policy training.

    In a statement, Jica Philippines Chief Representative Takahiro Sasaki said the plain aims to “create a level playing field” and attract investors throughout the Philippines.

    In all, 64 sector-regulators and 20 judges are set to receive the training by 2016.
