Japan: Seatbelt price-fixing settlement tops $71M for Takata Corp.

Car parts manufacturer Takata Corp. announced Thursday it has reached a settlement agreement to end a US probe into allegations of price-fixing of seatbelt parts, announcing it would pay $71.3 million to end the case.

    The settlement is the latest development in the case that sees more than 20 companies under watch of the US Department of Justice for price-fixing allegations.

    While details of the agreement were scarce, Takata released a statement in Tokyo confirming the deal.
