KPN wins some, loses some on its proposed acquisitions of seven fiber service companies
The NMa has approved KPN’s takeover of three fiber service operators: Lijbrandt, Glashart Media, and Reggefiber Wholesale. Since KPN already jointly owns Lijbrandt, the NMa found that the transition from joint to sole control would not significantly affect the market. The NMa cleared KPN’s acquisition of Reggefiber Wholesale after determining that it does not compete with KPN. The NMa approved the buy of Glashart Media because of the presence of other active competitors in the market for Glashart Media’s services.
Yet KPN’s proposed acquisition of fiber service providers Edutel, XMS, Concepts ICT and KickXL remains under further review. The transaction would strengthen KPN’s position in several regions.
