The attorney is recognized for work in precedent-setting antitrust litigation as well as intellectual property, securities, and commercial disputes. Per a statement, the firm described the hire as part of its strategy to bolster its ability to guide multinational companies through critical legal challenges.

Rich Trobman, chair and managing partner of Latham & Watkins, said the addition aligns with the firm’s focus on helping clients address complex business risks. “The addition of Dave, a formidable talent and leading trial lawyer known for winning the hardest cases, makes perfect sense as we focus on delivering sophisticated legal advice that enables our clients to see around corners, beat down challenges to achieving their business goals, and further hone their competitive position.”

Marc Jaffe, managing partner of the New York office, noted the importance of litigation capabilities in the firm’s largest U.S. market. “With a tremendous track record handling complex disputes and a reputation for excellence, Dave is a superb addition to our market-leading New York litigation team and an invaluable asset for our clients,” he said.

The move also builds on the firm’s global antitrust practice. According to a statement from Mike Egge, chair of the antitrust and competition practice, the hire follows the addition of Alfonso LaMadrid in Europe earlier this year. Egge said the goal is to ensure clients have access to both deal clearance expertise and courtroom representation when transactions face challenges.

The new partner said he looks forward to joining the team. “I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to practice alongside and across from Latham multiple times over my career, and I couldn’t be more excited to become part of this exceptional team.”
