Marriott joins Latham’s New York office as a partner in the firm’s antitrust and competition practice and will also serve as a member of its litigation and trial department. His legal career spans nearly three decades, during which he has represented global corporations in significant disputes involving intellectual property, securities, and commercial litigation across multiple industries and court systems.

Per Global Legal Post, Marriott’s litigation background includes appearances in both federal and state courts, and his experience will complement Latham’s focus on handling high-stakes, multifaceted legal challenges. His move follows a long tenure at Cravath, where he had been a partner since 2003. Early in his career, he clerked for Judge Albert Engel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and Judge Eugene Lynch of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Latham’s leadership underscored the strategic value of the hire. Rich Trobman, the firm’s chair and managing partner, described Marriott as “a formidable talent and leading trial lawyer known for winning the hardest cases,” emphasizing the firm’s commitment to helping clients “see around corners” and maintain a competitive edge.

Marc Jaffe, managing partner of Latham’s New York office, noted the significance of the hire in strengthening the firm’s litigation offering in a key legal market. He praised Marriott’s track record and reputation, calling him “a superb addition to our New York litigation team and an invaluable asset for our clients.”

Marriott’s arrival follows a wave of strategic lateral hires for Latham in the antitrust space. In May, the firm added Alfonso Lamadrid in Brussels from Garrigues, and in June, it welcomed Andrew Forman, former deputy assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice, in Washington, D.C., Global Legal Post reported.
