Malaysia: Authority considering Block Exemption Order for liner shipping cos

Malaysia’s competition authority MyCC has announced plans to issue a Proposed Block Exemption Order to shipping companies. The order would grant the exemption application issued by the Malaysia Shipowners Association, the Shipping Association of Malaysia and the Federation of Malaysian Port Operators Council. MyCC said it would grant the BEO if the benefits outweigh risks to competition. According to reports, the order is in response to liner shipping agreements made within the nation or affecting the nation’s shipping market; it is also a direct result of a probe of the liner shipping industry by the MyCC.
