Mexico: ChemChina one step closer to Syngenta approval

Following on from last week’s approval from US antitrust regulators, ChemChina and Syngenta announced on Monday that they have been given the nod from the Federal Economic Competition Commission of Mexico.

    The $43 billion merger is edging closer, though now it has the preliminary go-ahead from the US Federal Trade Commission for the proposed acquisition of Swiss giants Syngenta by ChemChina – and now the approval from the Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica (COFECE).

    The approval represents a further step towards the closing of the transaction, which is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2017, says a statement.
