El gobierno federal anunció que a partir de enero de 2016 da inicio la libre importación de combustible en territorio mexicano, aunque los resultados podrían verse dentro de dos años. La Dirección Comercial de Pemex Transformación Industrial anunció que ya negocia con empresarios locales el suministro de gasolinas con el objetivo de poder instalar nuevas gasolineras que competirán con las 11 mil 439 que tiene Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
