Morrison Foerster Attorneys Appointed to Key Positions in ABA Antitrust Law Section

Morrison Foerster is thrilled to reveal that eight of its attorneys have been selected for or retained in key positions within the American Bar Association (ABA) Antitrust Law Section for the 2023‒2024 term. Jeff Jaeckel, Alexander Okuliar, Lisa Phelan, Megan Gerking, Bonnie Lau, David Shaw, Tom DeMatteo, and Evan Harris are amongst those appointed to new or current leadership roles with the ABA.

Jeff Jaeckel, Morrison Foerster’s Vice Chair, remains as a member of the Editorial Board for ABA’s Antitrust Magazine. He previously served as Co-Chair of the Global Antitrust Law Practice Group and as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors, as well as Co-Chair of the firm’s eDiscovery Task Force.

Alexander Okuliar continues to serve as Co-Chair of the Joint Conduct Committee and was recently chosen to also preach the co-chairmanship of the Section’s 2023 Fall Forum. Alexander is Co-Chair of Morrison Foerster’s Global Antitrust Law Practice Group and was once Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Enforcement in the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.

Lisa Phelan, Co-Chair of the International Cartel Task Force, also assumes the Co-Chair position of the Global Antitrust Law Practice Group. She has formerly acted as Chief of the National Criminal Enforcement and Washington Criminal I Sections of the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, earning her a notable standing in the bar.

Seeing the promotion of Megam Gerking is no surprise – she was recently appointed an editor of the Section’s Antitrust Magazine- Digital Edition following her footsteps as a trial attorney in the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, Washington Criminal I Section.

Bonnie Lau continues to serve as a Vice Chair of the Section’s Women Connected Committee. Celebrated as Co-head of Morrison Foerster’s San Francisco Litigation Department, Lau continues to showcase her devotion to promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal community.

David Shaw was appointed Co-Chair of the Section’s Exemptions and Immunities Committee. Prior to joining Morrison Foerster, Shaw served as Deputy Chief of Staff and counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice.

Tom DeMatteo was also appointed to serve as a Young Lawyer Representative of the Federal Civil Enforcement Committee. DeMatteo is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s Global Antitrust Law Practice Group and formerly served as counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.

Morrison Foerster further celebrates the appointment of Evan Harris as a Young Lawyer Representative of the Agriculture & Food Committee. Harris is an associate in the practice group’s Global Antitrust Law Practice Group.
