Moscow: Regs smell something fishy, bust seafood cartel

Moscow antitrust regulators cracked down on the nation’s fishing sector after finding various bodies to have formed a cartel to divide the wholesale market of Norwegian salmon and trout to Russia, reports say. Nine fishing companies, one non-commercial organization and a government agency were found guilt of forming a cartel by the nation’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service; the Russian Sea brand was among those found to have violated antitrust law. While specific financial details of penalties were not disclosed by the regulator, a statement said the companies will be required to align their business practices with the law and pay a fine based on their annual turnovers.
