New Zealand: Regulator launches new “whistleblowing” tool

The country’s competition watchdog hopes to encourage more people to anonymously dob in cartels. The Commerce Commission announced a new “whistleblowing” tool it was providing would let people contact it about cartel behavior without the risk of being identified.

    “Cartel conduct is hard to detect because it is often conducted in secret,” general manager of competition Antonia Horrocks said.

    “In our work we therefore rely on information from those with knowledge of cartels.”
