Nigeria: Procurement body pushes anti-bid-rigging campaign

According to exclusive reports, Nigeria’s Bureau of Public Procurement will soon initiate policies aimed at stopping and preventing bid-rigging in the country as the body claims hundreds of thousands of dollars saved last year from its enforcement. The Bureau is reportedly looking into requiring registration of local and foreign contractors in its database as a method of curbing bid-rigging in government contract auctions. According to one unnamed source, the Bureau is also looking to crack down on contractors who fraudulently place multiple bids on contracts.
