Pakistan: High Court orders report on gas authority’s price-fixing

The chief justice of the High Court of Pakistan’s capital of Lahore ordered Ogra, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, to provide a report as to how the authority determines its fixed petroleum prices. The order was issued while the High Court heard a petition against Ogra challenging the authority’s petrol price increase. The petitioner, who was not named in the media, said the increases were deceiving to consumers and argued that the authority raised prices congruent with international market prices, but never lowered them when international market prices decreased.
