The 14th annual Latin American and Caribbean Competition Forum takes place this 12th and 13th of April, bringing together heads of competition and sector regulators from across the region. The event, created by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) seeks to promote effective policymaking for competition regimes across Latin America and the Caribbean, as they hope to promote the region’s economic development.
The forum, held this year in Mexico City and organized by the Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) and telecommunications regulator Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) will focus on talks regarding disruptive innovation, leniency programs and the promotion of free and effective competition in public contract bidding.
Additionally, the gathering will serve as a background for the annual Iberoamerican Competition Forum, as well as a meeting by the Regional Center for Competition in Latin America (CRCAL). Both groups are dedicated to competition research and promotion efforts for their respective regions.
