Russia: Gazprom probed for sulfur price manipulation

Russia’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service announced the initiation of a probe into gas giant Gazprom for allegations the firm manipulated sulfur prices. According to reports, the FAS heard complaints by some of Russia’s largest fertilizer companies against Gazprom, accusing the gas company of artificially inflating sulfur prices. EuroChem and PhosAgro were the first to file complaints with the FAS. Gazprom denied any wrongdoing and told reporters that sulfur pricing is dependent upon global prices and other variables, but the FAS said global pricing structures do not directly impact Russia’s prices.
