Russia: Gazprom rejects EU market abuse claims

Russian gas company Gazprom rejected on Wednesday charges brought by the European Commission for alleged monopolistic practices in several countries in central and eastern Europe.

    “Gazprom strictly adheres to all the rules of international law and legislation in the countries where Gazprom Group operates. Operation of Gazprom Group on the EU market, including applicable principles of gas pricing, meets the standards that are used by other producers and exporters of gas,” a statement released by the company defended.

    Brussels officially accused Russian Gazprom on Wednesday of alleged abuses of its dominant position in European gas markets.
