South Africa: Canadian mining firm increases presence in Africa

Canadian mining and project infrastructure firm Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP has acquired South Africa’s Bell Dewar Inc, increasing presence and power for the Canadian company in Africa. The move, announced Monday, comes as part of Fasken Martineau’s efforts to extend its reach in the continent where, says managing partner David Corbett, the firm has focused many of its investments. Fasken Martineau represents several Canadian banks currently funding mining projects in Africa. The merger will take effect in February 2013.
