South Africa: Massive construction bid-rigging probe continues

According to reports, South Africa’s Competition Commission has released a statement informing the public of its ongoing investigation into alleged big-rigging within the construction industry. The probe, called the “Construction Fast Track Settlement Project (CSP)” officially began on the first of this month. When initiated, the Commission invited construction firms to enter into its leniency program and disclose information on bid-rigging in exchanged for reduced penalties. After the first phase of the project, 301 projects and tenders were identified as possible targets of bid-rigging.
