South Korea: Two execs detained in gas pipeline bid-rigging probe

Two executives from two major corporations have reportedly been detained as part of an investigation into claims of bid-rigging involving gas pipeline construction projects, say reports.

    Executives from Doosan Heavy Industries and SK E&C were detained, though their identities were not revealed. The companies are just two of 20 major construction firms being eyed in the investigation.

    Reports say contraction projects for more than two-dozen natural gas pipeline projects, launched by Korea Gas Corp, are under scrutiny for an alleged bid-rigging conspiracy.

    South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission has reportedly hit nearly half of the nation’s top-100 construction firms for bid-rigging violations in the last two years.
