Spain/India: Regulators OK rice mill sale

The Competition Commission of India has announced its approval of Spanish conglomerate Herba Foods to acquire a rice mill currently under the control of Olam Agro India. Taraory Rice Mills will be sold entirely to Herba Foods, a subsidiary of Ebro Foods. Up until the deal, Olam Agro India and its subsidiary owned a 50 percent stake each in the mill. According to reports, Herba Foods first sought approval for the deal from the CCI in mid-March. The regulator found no cause for competition concerns.
