Tanzania: Tanga Fresh angry over heavy fines by Competition Commission

When dairy farmers from over ten dairy cooperative societies in Tanga established Tanga Fresh Limited, a milk processing facility, they thought the worries about milk marketing were over.

However, according to the General Manager of the Company, Michael Karata, Tanga Fresh Limited was found by the Fair Competition Commission to have committed infractions that were against the provisions of the Fair Competition Act that of strengthening a position of dominance as well as failure to notify a merger.
