Thailand: No evidence yet of 3G network bid-rigging

The Department of Special Investigation has reportedly not found any evidence of antitrust violations in a recent probe launched into the winners of 3G network bandwidth for mobile telecom providers. The DSI says its plans to wrap-up the investigation next week, after the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission provides the necessary information requested for the investigation. The NBTC voluntarily provided documentation related to the auction of the 3G bandwidth to four state authorities. The DSI was concerned over the methods used by the NBTC to auction off the bandwidth, which included pricing the bandwidth at above-market prices and suspicions that the NBTC may have prevented smaller companies from being able to afford a fair fight in the bidding.
