Tomra’s 24 million euro fine for retailer rebates and discounts upheld by ECJ

The European Court of Justice upheld a 2006 antitrust fine imposed against Tomra Systems. Tomra manufactures “reverse vending machines” that collect and sort cans and bottles for recycling. The European Commission had fined the Norwegian company 24 million euros for offering rebates and discounts to retailers. Tomra had attempted to overturn the fine by arguing that the evidenced used was misleading.
