Towercast, CK Telecoms and Illumina: Interesting Times for EU Merger Control (Yet Again)

In the field of merger control, three recent cases – Towercast, CK Telecoms and Illumina – have attracted considerable attention from the antitrust community. According to some observers, those cases may lead the EU and/or national legislatures to consider some changes to their merger control regimes. The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief overview of those cases and share some initial thoughts on what the Court’s judgments may entail for the present and future of EU merger control
